380 – He is Adequate

380 – He is Adequate

September 15, 1989 San Francisco

Proverbs 16:21 The wise in heart are called discerning and pleasant words promote instruction.

23 A wise man’s heart guides his mouth and his lips promote instruction.

Tonight I went forward to counsel at the crusade, expecting God to direct me to the right person. I was looking, waiting, praying, and another worker directed me to Suzanne. She is a beautiful Christian Catholic overflowing with the Spirit of God. And she prayed for me! We exchanged phone numbers.

September 16

Our friends Paul and Karen arrived for a visit. Paul prayed against fear: anxiety and fear exalt themselves against the knowledge of God. Let your lips speak wisdom! He exhorted me that whenever the word inadequate pops up replace it with the word available. I am available—He is adequate. And joy should follow!

We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but no abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry about the life of Jesus! 1 Corinthians 4:8-10

Paul and Karen babysat Stevie, Markie, and Danny, and Dan and Timmy and I went to the Crusade. God moved mightily. I held a lady’s 7 month old baby so she could go forward for prayer.

377 – Please Advise, Lord

377- Please Advise, Lord

September 2, 1989 San Francisco

Dan, Timmy, and Stevie left early to set up Mario Murillo tent. Dan and Timmy went to the 2 o’clock and the 6 o’clock meetings. Tim sold t-shirts and the Latinos gave him one. I did laundry in the men’s locker room by the pool all day. Up and down the stairs. It was free, and I thank the Lord!

September 3 Sunday

Shealyn and I worked in the nursery at church. Directly after church we all went to the Crusade. Donnie Moore did feats of strength. I counseled Natalie and Karen. We had a quick dinner at home and went back to the 6 o’clock meeting. Timmy got another shirt and a music tape from the Latinos! It’s nice he is getting these rewards for his hard work.

September 4

The rent, Lord!! And what about Petaluma job? PLEASE ADVISE!

John 1:1 Jesus is the WORD. 3-4Jesus is life and gives life, now and eternally! 5Jesus is light and He illuminates the darkness.

John 11:6 Jesus is the way, the truth, and the LIFE.

Please bring us the word of truth and show us the way, Lord. You are our life!

We went to Foster City with Ken and Kathy Reed and we were much encouraged by their walk of faith. Dan and Ken clicked. Ken has a history with Japan, also.

367 – A Party, Abacas Class, a Crusade

367 A Party, Abacas class,

a Crusade

August 19, 1989 San Francisco

I had asked God to encourage me and He did, by counting my blessings: Timmy can read! Stevie can read! Both read very WELL!! Markie is diligent and interested. I received the Alpha Omega homeschool diagnostic test. It is not fearsome. I will make my order for fall.

Daniel is a bright and loving boy since several weeks ago—summer with no school stress!

God has allowed me to see my heart. I am ecstatic and He is helping me greatly!

Later: We went to Nana and Mike Watanabe’s home in Half Moon Bay for Jojo’s birthday. Great fun for all.

Nana has invited us to her abacus class for all the boys for free! They will use borrowed abacus’es (?). There will be a testing and booklets fee. May God give our boys the strong deslire to learn and the ability.

Later, we went to the Japanese church, the 19th Avenue Baptist church.

And then to the Mario Murillo crusade. We sat in the front on the right side. The boys were all totally attentive and had excellent attitudes. We were there 6-9 pm. Tim’s jaw healing has begun!

351- Prayer and Support

351 – Prayer and Support

April 3, 1989 Monday

Prayed believing prayers & verses. Still uptight. Everything is difficult!

In the afternoon I picked up Dennis Bennett’s book, 9:00 in the Morning, which Linda lent us. It is the story of his baptism in the Holy Spirit. Cried. Began praying in tongues.

Everything lifted. I became a changed person.

Till later… when I focused on the house mess. We have extra furniture from Deborah, clothes from Beth—aaaaaa! This place is too small for all of this!! Began praying in tongues again.

Yesterday I really looked at the boys’ Sunday schedule and marveled.

Sunday morning they have Sunday School – I teach Daniel, Dan teaches Mark and Stevie. There are no other students. Timmy goes with Helen’s class. Then the kids sit through the worship and teaching of the main service.

We go home for lunch and are back at the church at 4:30 for a meeting, then service at 6. There is no planned activity for them, yet they are amazingly content. Supernaturally content. God, you are supremely gracious as we go through these things.

April 5 – my 44th birthday

God came through via Karen! She sent $50! We all went out to pizza!! Thank You so much, Jesus!

April 6

Victorious day!! Got prayer from Dan and good support from God!

340 – New Friends

340 – New Friends

February 3, 1989

Bill and Linda, she goes to our church, invited us to dinner. Linda is an on-fire new Christian, Bill is watching, discerning us all. He and Dan and the boys engaged in baseball talk. Dan isn’t really into baseball, but Bill is very knowledgeable and Dan and the boys are all very genuinely interested.

Linda is very supportive of me as a Mom, prayed for me to know I am doing a good job without me getting proud; prayed the boys would have more time away from us in fun activities, asked God to anoint me to teach them and love them, and to be a witness to many women. She offered to babysit so Dan and I could go on a date.

February 4

Reiko came to our apartment for a visit, one hour. She is delightful. She gave us many insights into the Japanese people. Is she a Christian?

Duane and Akiko invited us all over. We received more insights into Japanese culture, had great fellowship, and a wonderful prayer time together. The boys had a late night last night and were all asleep by 7:15.

328 – Welcomed by Dan’s Good Friends

328 – Welcomed by Dan’s

Good Friends

October 31, 1988 Wheaton, Illinois

As Dan and I prayed against hopelessness, he got a picture: he saw an old weathered train station. Even the tracks and buildings were gone. He felt God was saying: don’t go back there (your old way of thinking) for information about self and life—God has a new station—He’s conforming you into the image of Jesus.

Daniel, age 5, said: you have 4 sons and if you have one more baby you’ll have 5 sons—but it’ll be a girl, and you can name her Georgann.

November 1-2  Des Moines, Iowa to Grand Island, Nebraska

November 3 – 15th  Castle Rock, Colorado

Dan’s friends became the kids and my friends!!! Dr. Jim and Sugar and their children welcomed us in and very happily gave Dan handyman work so he could earn money for the remainder of our trip. The work kept him busy every day for almost 2 weeks. There were animals (chickens, goats, dogs, cats), lots of open spaces, and hills for the boys to climb, and a boy Steve’s age who they all enjoyed.

I proclaimed in my journal: NOTHING IS GOING TO GET ME DOWN. I WILL NOT BE OVERCOME. THE JOY OF THE LORD IS MY STRENGTH.

Proverbs 31:15 She can laugh at the days to come.

NIV note: she is free of anxiety and worry!

Every day I read Lloyd Oglivie’s book, You are Loved and Forgiven. I received encouragement every day. I had time to rest, and I took lots of notes.

November 16 Cheyenne, Wyoming

It snowed often when we were in Castle Rock, and it snowed the day we left in our wobbily motor home. Dan’s friends Del and Florence were excited to see Dan and meet the family. We were loved and welcomed again.

323 – Trust God and Be Flexible

323 – Trust God and Be Flexible

October 4, 1988 West Chester, PA

Deciding that we needed a school day we stayed in a KOA Campground. Dan worked with Danny and Mark while I worked with Timmy and Steve. We all had showers and I did all of our laundry. Our next stop was Alexandria, Virginia, and our schooling would consist of an extended field trip to DC, focusing on American History and Science! We called my friend JoAnn from a pay phone to confirm our expected arrival time.

Joshua 9-11 I was encouraged to seek God specifically each day regarding school, and to not be hung up on my own understanding and my own plan.

October 6-8 Alexandria, VA

We had 2 full days at JoAnn’s, and we all got to sleep in the house! Reno was JoAnn and Ed’s hometown. Their family had moved across country so that Ed could work in Reagan’s administration. JoAnn and I had taught school together and she was one of my best friends. We had a wonderful reunion.

I got up early to do my devotions. I kept reading in Joshua (chapters 12-14) till I found something that ministered to me. Caleb was 40 when Moses sent him to Kadesh Barnea to explore the land. (I am 43) Caleb followed the Lord wholeheartedly and he and his children received an inheritance. Caleb claimed it and fought for it because the Lord had promised it to him. He drove out all of the enemies.

Lord, I can fight in the spiritual realm through confident prayer and grounded faith and be an overcomer! We can drive out all of our enemies—like Dan praying for Timmy and releasing him from anxiety.

Also read Psalm 6, Proverbs 6, Colossians 1.

Thursday JoAnn had plans, so our family went into Washington DC on the Metro, which was an adventure in itself. The next day JoAnn was available. Again, we took the Orange Line and had another wonderful day. We went to the Smithsonian, the Lincoln Memorial, the Mall. We befriended the teachers of a group of young uniformed Japanese girls. It was a great family experience to be in the Capitol.

On the 7th I read Joshua 15-22.

Be very careful to obey the law that Moses gave…to love your God, to walk in all His ways, to obey His commands, to hold fast to Him, and to serve Him with all your heart and your soul.

321 – And…Our Journey Begins!

321 – And …Our Journey Begins!

September 25, 1988

Stevie helped Wayne make breakfast. I got a cute picture of it. Last week Tim helped Cheryl and Darlene can peaches. We love it here. It’s like family.

We were anointed with oil at Livonia church. It was humbling. Pastor George and Judy Davis and all of the congregation there are such a wonderful group of friends.

September 26

I gave Leslie some scriptures. I will miss her and pray for her as she grows in her faith. Greg and Cheryl called. They are forever friends. I talked to Judy and Jane. We sent in our absentee ballots.

Costa Dier, a missionary from Elim, prayed for guidance from the Lord as to whether we should go to New York City or San Francisco. He prayed God would provide for us “so they can minister without strain.”

Joshua 3:3 …You are to move out from your position and follow the ark. Then you will know which way to go since you have never been this way before.

v 5 consecrate yourselves, for TOMORROW the Lord will do amazing things among you.

God is so good! We are going out to begin our journey TOMORROW! Pretty amazing, I think, that I would read this in my devotions today.

September 27

We left the Pletchers and headed for New Jersey!

Joshua 4:8 This story shows me that the Israelites did as God commanded EVEN THOUGH IT MUST HAVE SEEMED FOOLISH.

v 15 The Lord gave commands and Joshua obeyed.

v 24 God did this: that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the Lord is powerful and so that you might always fear the Lord your God.

What is ahead? We will listen and follow the Lord.

319 – My Strength is in the Lord!

319 – My Strength is in the Lord!

September 14, 1988

The Billy Graham Crusade was held for four nights in Rochester. Timmy, age 9, went once. I’m not sure if Steve or Mark went. Dan went each night and was up front as a counselor. He had gone door-to-door handing out flyers in our village and one of our neighbors on Big Tree Street got saved. Our neighbor Leslie went with me one night and went forward. I went forward with her. Oh HAPPY DAY!

September 19

Dan called Phyllis in New Jersey. She is very excited to know the dates of our visit. When we leave next week, she will be our first stop. She said the East coast has more new Japanese immigrants and the Bay Area would have second and third generation Japanese. We are trusting the Lord for direction as to where He could use us. Our goal is to live somewhere for a year or so to get experience with be-friending Japanese people and to begin learning the language.

Deuteronomy 20:3-4 Do not be fainthearted or afraid; do not panic or be terrified by them. For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies and to give you victory.

God met me through the Word: the people and the situations that are strained are not going to overwhelm me if I will not be afraid and if I will trust Him. He will do the behind-the-scenes warfare!

September 21

There is a last-minute list of clothes that I felt we needed. It is pretty basic stuff and it seems our finances were such that we had not been able to purchase them.

September 22

The Elim Fellowship board met AND APPROVED US!! We are now part of an organization who will help us get a placement in Japan.

I asked God to speak to me plainly today:

Joshua 1, God to Georgann:

*Do meditate on the Word day and night

*Do what is in it, i.e., make it part of your life

*Results: you will be successful and prosperous

*Caution: Don’t be terrified

*Do be strong and courageous

*Don’t be discouraged

*Promise: The Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

311- We Moved into the Nautilus

311 – We Moved into the Nautilus!

August 11, 1988

Leviticus 19:3 Everyone of you shall revere his mother and his father.

Repented of not honoring my parents in my heart like I think I probably should.

Leviticus 20:23 You must not live according to the customs of the nations.

Felt reinforced about our decision to homeschool. Our nation’s customs have become so divergent from the days when God was more respected and right was right and wrong was wrong.

I sped through the rest of Leviticus and finished it.

I praise God for the grace that met me today. I have a POSITIVE attitude. With the loss of possessions, timidity about our future, people’s questionings about our adventuresome journey—and the fact that we do not know what we are doing—thank God for PEACE and positivity!

August 12

We named our very small motor home the Nautilus.

A nautilus is a mollusk that swims in the ocean with its shell buoyant and upright. We had named our homeschool Nautilus–believing we were propelled and ‘covered’ by the Lord in our lifestyle to educate our sons.

Today we moved in! Yes, it is v-e-r-y cozy!

We stored all of Tim and Steve’s homeschool materials in the shower! (We did not have the money to order Mark’s.) We took a minimum of clothes for the six of us, basic cooking pans and utensils, a few toys. Remember this thing was perched on top of a Toyota pickup truck bed.

When we moved from Reno to NY, we moved most of our worldly goods across the country in pods. But for the return trip, we had not yet received a final destination from the Lord and we had no funds to warrant the luxury of holding onto our possessions. We could afford to keep only the basics. So we sold all of our furniture and appliances and a good amount of our stuff. We stacked our 50 boxes in the shed. Dan had carefully enumerated what was in each box and numbered the boxes.

As it was, about a year later we were unable to send for only a 4 or 5 boxes. Dan’s dad’s train set, my grandmother’s silver, the boys’ bikes and hot wheels, and much much more—we never saw again. We finally wrote a friend in our little Livonia church and gave permission for her to empty the Wilson’s shed, have a yard sale, and give the money to the church. It was sad. But during this season I met a family whose house had burned to the ground and they lost everything. I decided to buck up and be a good sport.

A lady named Nancy saw our newspaper ad and came by and bought our clothes dryer. She shared she had six children and they were a farm family. She started having kids late and had the last two in her 40’s!!!. She shared how important it was to put our values into the children.

I had asked the Lord to give me acquaintances with women who are older, have large families and are family-oriented. Praise the Lord for this answered prayer which encouraged the baby vision.
